Dealing With Rape

Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person’s consent. Rape is a terrible act. It is punishable under law.
No one deserves to be raped. Last weekend, I was invited to speak on virginity and rape awareness at a programme tagged ‘’ Kiss and Tell”. It was very insightful, and I strongly encourage more events like this.
At the beginning of this week, a friend told me about a girl that was raped recently and didn’t know what to do. I decided to write an article on how to deal with rape. Below are a few tips on how to deal with rape.
-         Tell a responsible person that you trust about what happened
-         Visit a medical practitioner immediately, so you can be examined, especially if you want to the attacker prosecuted
-         Speak to and visit a professional counselor
-         Don’t bottle the emotions; cry, shout, scream especially when you feel the rush of emotions
-         Don’t blame yourself, no one ever deserves to be raped
-         Seek regular professional help to boost your self-esteem
-         Attend seminars and read books that will build your character in forgiveness, trust and love.
-         During the times you feel down, open up to God and someone that you trust.
My Quotes:
·        No one deserves to be raped
·        Real men/women don’t rape
·        Stop the stigma against raped victims
