Inferiority Complex

I was on Unilag radio 103.1fm yesterday to speak on inferiority complex; I will like to share some information on this topic. First of all the definition of inferiority complex:

Merriam-Webster Dictionary
An acute sense of personal inferiority often resulting either in timidity or through overcompensation in exaggerated aggressiveness.

Free Dictionary
This is a disorder arising from the conflict between the desire to be noticed and the fear of being humiliated, characterized by aggressiveness or withdrawal into oneself.

I say that inferiority complex in a simple term, is feeling less of one’s self. It is can be connected with a real or imaginary shortcoming in physical appearance, intelligence, personality, education, social status, economic status and religious status.

This can be as a result of verbal abuse, physical abuse, and trauma, perception about one’s self or status. Inferiority complex is deadly; it affects the thinking process and decision making.

I went through inferiority complex for a while and
it was a terrible period for me. Even though I have always been beautiful, I did not feel or think that I was beautiful enough. I needed people’s opinion to validate my strong points. I made drastic decisions that could have led to my death.

Overcoming Inferior Complex

This involves having a positive change in perception about your personality, physical appearance, education, intelligence, economic status, social status, etc. You can do this by:
o   Believing in what God’s word says about you,
o   Reading inspirational articles/books
o   Listening to inspirational audio messages/podcasts
o   Watching motivational videos
o   Attend seminars
o   Associating with positive minded people.

This will help in building your self-confidence.

Gracias
